WIFA Election 2015: Results

Meghe, Vora elected among 5 WIFA Vice-Presidents

MLA Sameer Meghe and Haresh K. Vora, both from Nagpur, were among the five elected as Vice-Presidents of WIFA (Western India Football Association) in the elections held during the 66th Ordinary General Meeting of the Association at the Cooperage Football Stadium on Saturday.

Sitting Vice-Presidents, Viswajeet Kadam (Pune), Maloje Raje Chhatrapati (Kolhapur) and Syed Liaquat Hussain (Aurangabad), all retained their posts as they were re-elected. There were eight candidates contesting for the five posts.

Earlier, Praful Patel (Bhandara) and Souter Vaz (Mumbai), had both retained their positions as WIFA President and Honorary Secretary respectively as they were elected unopposed.

The Treasurers’ position was won by incumbent, Pyarelal Choudhary (Pune), who will continue for another term.

Meanwhile, the electoral picked new faces for the three Assistant Secretaries posts. Kiran Chougule (Solhapur), Mr. Salim Parkote (Latur) and Mr. Sushil Kumar Surve (Amravati), were elected from among the five candidates who were contesting for the post.

Mumbai’s U. Banerjee retained his post among the 13 Committee Members elected from the 16 contestants.

The newly elected WIFA Committee:

President: Mr. Praful Patel (Bhandara).

Vice-Presidents (5 posts): Mr. Viswajeet Kadam (Pune), Mr. Maloje Raje Chhatrapati (Kolhapur), Mr. Syed Liaquat Hussain (Aurangabad), Mr. Haresh K. Vora (Nagpur), Mr. Sameer Meghe (Nagpur).

Hon. Secretary: Mr. Souter Vaz (Mumbai).

Hon. Treasurer: Mr.Pyarelal Choudhary (Pune).

Assistant Secretary (3 posts): Mr. Kiran Chougule (Solhapur), Mr. Salim Parkote (Latur), Mr. Sushil Kumar Surve (Amravati).

Committee Members (13 posts): Mr. Sunil Dhande (Beed), Mr. Deepak Dixit (Chandrapur), Mr. Ahmed Lalani  (Gondia), Mr. Azgar Husain Patel (Hingoli), Mr. Sardar Momin (Kolhapur), Mr. Khaja (Sajid) Raziuddin Ansari (Nanded), Mr.Vasant Gulzarilal  Agarwal (Sangli), Mr. Ravindra Darekar (Gadchiroli), Mr. Godwin S.
