U-16 National Camp to resume on June 1 in Goa

The Indian U-16 National Team for home-based boys ended their six-week Training Camp in Goa with a convincing 7-0 victory against Sporting Clube de Goa’s U-18 team. For the winners, striker Daniel Lalhlimpuia scored a brace while Sayan Dutta, Rupert Nongrum, Isaac Vanmalsawma, Vinith Rai and Viveka Nanda scored one apiece.

Apart from the win against Sporting Clube’s U-18 team, the U-16 boys also played three other practice matches and won all of them. In the first practice match, the U-16 squad defeated Salgaocar’s U-18 team by a solitary goal – Daniel scoring the match-winner.

In another match, the U-16 boys beat Sporting Clube de Goa’s U-19 team 2-1 as Daniel and Lalramzuava scored one apiece.

The boys also played against Brazil Football Academy’s U-18 team and won 8-0. Rupert scored a hat-trick while Daniel scored a brace. Kamalpreet Singh, Sarthak Golui and Klins Mendes scored one each.

The final phase of the Preparatory Camp for the AFC U-16 Championship to be held in September resumes in Goa on June 1 when the batch of U-16 Indian boys presently based at IMG Academy, Florida joins the home-based U-16 National squad. Mr. Colm Toal, Head Coach Youth Development, will stay charge of the Camp.
