Pranav scores 4 as Maharashtra thrash Jharkand

Maharashtra opened their U14 campaign in style with a commanding 5-1 victory over Jharkand on Sunday in Kalyani.  It was the first meeting of teams in Cluster VI.

Kamran Ansari performed outstandingly and was instrumental in the team’s strong showing.Kolhapur boy, Pranav Kanse was impressive and he scored four of Maharashtra’s five goals. He was part of the team that participated in the tournament last year as well.

The game started off with Kamran Ansari getting on the score sheet in the 7th minute.  Pranav added the second in the 13th minute with a neat finish. Jharkand managed to pull one back in the 16th minute to make it 2-1. Maharahstra’s lead was extended in the 25th minute when Pranav slotted home his second to make it 3-1.

Pranav added two more goals in the second half to ensure Maharashtra pulled off a comprehensive win. Kamran Ansari put in a very good performance and was instrumental in the team’s impressive performance.

Coach Augusto was very happy with the team’s performance, “We dominated possession and were lethal in our finishing. Kamran and Pranav were outstanding and the rest of the team played brilliantly.”

Maharashtra takes on Delhi in their second group game tomorrow.
