Maharashtra thrash Chandigarh

Maharashtra defeated Chandigarh 5-1 in their second group game of the Junior Girls National Football Championship in Odisha today.


Maharashtra was on the attack right from the start and got their lead in the 17th minute. Suman Salian headed home from a corner taken by Karishma Vazirani. They continued to attack and were rewarded in the 24th minute when Jyotika Singh slotted home from the top of the box.

Chandigarh managed to pull one back in the 38th through a nicely placed free kick in the 38th minute.

Maharashtra continued to attack and got their third in the 61st minute with Captain Abeer getting on the score sheet with shot that was meant to be cross. Komal Devkule got her goal in the 79th minute when she latched onto a cross from Abeer.  They completed the rout in the 86th minute with Abeer getting her second of the game with a nice shot past the keeper.

Jyotika Singh and Karishma Vazirani were involved in almost all of Maharashtra’s attacks. They had a total of 35 shots on target throughout the game.

They now take on West Bengal in their last group game on 25th November.
