FCM and PIFA wins again while Bodyline, FC Kolhapur City earns a draw

The ongoing WIFA Women’s Champions has begun to pick up the pace as the road to Indian Women’s League (IWL) intensifies. This week, FC Mumbaikars and PIFA continued their fine form to clinch all three points, whereas, the likes of Bodyline SC, Kenkre FC, FC Kolhapur City, and Football School of India (FSI) had to settle for a point.

Bodyline SC (Nisha Singh 16′ and Akanksha Kandalkar 72′) 2-2 Kenkre FC (Mamta Kumari 18′ and Renu 31′)

Prolific goal-scorer Nisha Singh continued her hot form in front of the goal with yet another goal for Bodyline SC, making it four goals in just two games. Though after Nisha’s opening strike, Mamta and Renu scored two quick goals to put Kenkre FC 2-1 ahead. With the game slipping away from Bodyline’s hands, Akanksha Kandalkar stepped up late to snatch a late draw with a beautiful goal in the 72nd minute.

FC Mumbaikars (Gita Das 7′ & 71′ and Puja Das 42′) 3-0 Future Stars Football Academy

The Green Army made it two wins in a row after an inspiring display from Gita Das and Captain Puja Das to derail Future Stars Football Academy who made their debut appearance in the Women’s Championship. FC Mumbaikars, as thing stands, is looking quite a strong team who can go all the way to defeat the odds.

United Poona Sports Academy (UPSA) 0-6 PIFA (Neetu Tirley 4′, Signorina Thapa 17′ & 76′, Sanam Rathod 19′ & 76′, and Ambika Dangne 79′)

Last season’s finalist United Poona Sports Academy (UPSA) once again ended up on the losing side after going down 6-0 at the hands of PIFA. Led by Aishwarya Balapure, last year’s best player, UPSA has failed to live up to their expectations. They have hardly been lethal in front of the goal and yet to score in this campaign. PIFA showed no mercy and hammered six goals past UPSA, courtesy Signorina Thapa and Sanam Rathod’s brace of goals, and goal each from Neetu Tirley and Ambika Dangne.

Football School of India (Pooja Dhamal 55′ and Karishma Vazirani 80+3′) 2-2 FC Kolhapur City (Pratiksh Mithari 33′ & 43′)

An end-to-end encounter yesterday ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw. FC Kolhapur City dominated throughout the game but had to settle for a draw against a clinical FSI side. Pratiksh Mithari’s two goals seemed enough to give FC Kolhapur City a crucial win but Pooja Dhamal and Karishma Vazirani’s second-half goals avoided a defeat for FSI.
