Churchill Brothers humble Md. Sporting

Churchill Brothers gave full display of its potential trouncing Mohammedan Sporting 5-1 in the second round Group B league match of the 34th Federation Cup at the Kanchanjungha Stadium.

Lebanese striker Akram Moghrabi scored a brace while Bineesh Balan, Roberto Mendes Silva, Henri Autchouet netted one apiece to complete Churchill Brothers’ impressive scoreline. Nigerian David Sunday got the lone reply for Mohammedan Sporting.

Churchill Brothers coach Subhas Bhowmick made a change in its attack bringing in Moghrabi for Gabonese forward Henry Antchouet, who had a forgettable outing in the previous match against Mohun Bagan.

Moghrabi netted the first goal in the 13th minute putting a faint touch to relay home a goal-ward effort from the other Lebanese in the team Bilal Najjaraine. Bineesh Balan made it 2-0 in the 27th minute before Brazilian game-maker Roberto Mendes Silva dived parallel to the ground to head home a cross from the right flank (3-0).

David Sunday scored Mohammedan Sporting’s role reply in the 38th minute but the Kolkata side’s hopes of a revival ended soon after as Moghrabi scored his second two minutes later to make it 4-1.
