Alister Anthony’s 2nd half header gave Maharashtra an impressive 1-0 victory.

After 63 minutes of exhilarating football with a string of chances for Maharashtra, the left winger nodded into the top corner beyond the keeper.

The game had looked destined to end in a stalemate, with Maharashtra creating the lion share of chances. But Alister’s effort stunned the opposition and gave us the lead.

Maharashtra dominated the first half and had shots on goal before the Andhra keeper tipped an awkward header away from the top corner.

Maharashtra’s relentless attacking football and the dynamic, vibrant combination of the front four caused numerous problems for their defenders, with wingers exploiting an error from the Andhra defender to shoot just wide of the near post.

Maharashtra Goalkeeper had to tip wide their striker’s superb first-time volley from distance before their keeper pushed wide another shot from distance, also at full stretch, before half-time.

Maharashtra had their best chance when they spun a shot narrowly over the crossbar on 50 minutes but dominated until Alister’s goal.

Cutting in front the left wing, Alister met the cross from the right with a powerful header to put the match behind Andhra’s reach.
