Air India look for a win against Mohun Bagan

In another match at the Salt Lake Stadium, McDowells Mohun Bagan lock horns with Air India. Star-studded Bagan are presently on the fourth spot with 21 points from 11 matches while Air India stay a spot behind on 19 points from 11 matches.

The cohesion which fans expect from Bagan, especially after their signings at the start of the season, have sadly been missing. Striker Odafa Okolie who was signed for a record sum has been among the goals (8 so far) but that’s doesn’t necessarily mean he has been getting the much needed support from behind.

And with inspirational captain Jose Ramirez Barreto yet to get back to peak fitness, it has only added to the woes of coach Prasanta Banerjee.

Air India, on the other hand, are a team who have performed out of their skins and are at the fifth spot at the moment. Coach Satosh Kashyap has been able to mould a group of talented youngsters into a winning combination.

India U-23 striker Manandeep Singh, a product of Indian Arrows has been a revelation under Kashyap scoring 5 goals so far – the highest Indian scorer in the I-League at the moment. Bagan are not quite known to boast about a compact defence, Manandeep will be fancying his chances for sure.

Bagan, for sure, stay desperate to get back to winning ways. A win may elevate them to the top-three; but with the kind of form Air India are at the moment, it’s easier said than done.
The kick-off is at 2pm.
