Aditi, Karen, Bhagyashree and Sejal attend the U 16 National Camp!

The Preparatory Camp of the U-16 Girls National Team which kicked-off under Head Coach Maymol Rockey at the Sports Authority of India’s Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat from August 28 is in full swing.

‘Women’s football has caught up in Maharashtra. Its heartening to see young kids showing their potential at this level. This camp will give them immense exposure and experience’, informed Henry Menezes (CEO), WIFA.

‘These are products of the active school football in Maharashtra which is on a flourish. We wish them and team India (to be formed) all the best! and hope they represent India at Dhaka and pave a way for others to follow’, signed off Henry.

The 35 girls are presently preparing for the AFC U-16 Women’s Qualifiers which kick-off in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from October 14 to 23, 2014.

India have been clubbed in Group B along with Iran, Jordan, UAE, Qatar and hosts Bangladesh.

Out of the 35 assembled Players, 21 had represented India in previous age-group Tournaments, including the AFC U-14 AFC Championships in Colombo.

The list of girls presently training at the Camp is as follows:

GOALKEEPERS: Subha Darshini Patra (Odisha), Shreya Hooda (Haryana), Linthoingambi Devi, Jubina Devi (both from Manipur), Ketaki Tyagi (Delhi).

DEFENDERS: Tahenbi Devi (Manipur), Eva Panna, Jabamani Tudu, Sasmita Behera (all from Odisha),Veganand Scindia (Goa), Karen Kenneth, Aditi Shety (Both from WIFA), Athira (Kerala), Amrita Kumari (Defender), Nandini Kapaiya (Gujarat).

MIDFIELDERS: Premi Chiru, Kashmina (both from Manipur), Nisha (Haryana), Lifa Gama, Anline Fernandes (both from Goa), Srijana Tamang (Odisha), Atisha PRatap Singh (Delhi), Mansi Vakharia, Krina Mehta (both from Gujarat), Minakshi Kumari (Bihar).

FORWARDS: Sushmita Bardhan, Asha Das (both from West Bengal), Daya Devi, Roja Devi (both from Manipur), Anuskha Samuel (Delhi), Vinothini Duraiuan, Adithi Rajgopal (both from Tamil Nadu), Bhagyashree Dalvi, Sejal Nakhawa (both from WIFA), Pynhun Shullet (Megchalaya).
