Maharashtra fights back to draw Kerala 5-5.

Maharashtra fights back to draw Kerala 5-5.

Maharashtra’s resilience and fighting spirit earned them a fighting draw with Kerala.

After Clivert Millar’s early penalty that put Maharashtra in the lead, the onus was on Maharashtra to push on and take control of the game. Despite creating good chances, Kerala drew level thanks to some sloppy play and awful defending. This sparked Kerala into life as a slippery ground didn’t aid Maharashtra in keeping them at bay. Kerala scored 5 goals by the end of 1st half to put them firmly into the driver seat.

In spite of a dreadful 1st half, The Maharashtra Team weren’t intimidated by their opponents. Maharashtra came close to pulling one back with the effort just going wide. Maharashtra continued to grow into the game as the half progressed and a sublime finish from Aman Kirnapure reduced the deficit at the 50th minute mark.

Taking the challenge head on, Maharashtra scored 2 more goals through Gaston D’silva and Aniket Varekarr in the next 12 minutes to bring them in touching distance with Kerala. Maharashtra Coach Augusto D’silva urged his team to push on for the equalizer and Pranav Kanase scored the 5th goal on 72 minutes to draw equal.

Maharashtra came close to scoring the elusive winning goal on 76 minutes. Kerala realizing they were no match for Maharashtra, shored up their defense to see the match through.

Overall it was a match of two halves as both teams cancelled out each other to end an exciting and pulsating match.
